Well still fairly early on but I'm loving it so far. Lot of different components I've already seen that make this stand out from your standard Zelda releases (not in bad way).
- YOUR WEAPONS AND ARMOR WILL BREAK. While you may find things that don't later in the game I can at least say that early on everything you have can break after so many uses. While traditional Zelda games had you start with a wooden sword and work your way up to better equipment you don't start this game with a sword at all. In fact I was using tree branches for a good bit. You can carry multiple melee weapons and multiple bows so it is important to not waste your strongest items on weaker enemies, as breaking them may put you in a bind down the road.
-Crafting is a thing now. As it stands there doesn't appear to be anymore saving your rupees and buying potions as I've not even seen the first rupee drop. Instead you collect bugs, herbs, and various other things to craft your own potions. So kind of like the early goings of the Elder Scrolls game, GRAB EVERYTHING. EDIT: I stand corrected I finally had my first rupee drop but man are they scarce early on.
-Open World means live or die how you want. While I'm just getting to the part where I believe it is time for me to start tackling dungeons, you can do them however you want. I remember reading an interview about the game that said as much but if I wanted, I could go fight the end boss now. Sure I would absolutely get destroyed but it is an option. The same supposedly rings true with all the dungeons, they can be done in different orders if you so wish.
Like I say right now I'm not super far as I've just completed the 4th shrine and have officially learned what is going on in the world, but from what I've already seen I really look forward to diving further into the huge world.
I was having a fight with the Wii U last night(figures this would be the game that would fill up my hard drive and force me to move some things around), so I didn't mess around with this last night, but good to hear it's as awesome as we all were hoping for.
Man I'm really loving this game, the world within is huge. Even though there are only four "dungeons" (not exactly dungeons) the exploration and side quests will keep you busy for some time. I also get the feeling the Season Pass DLC will add more dungeons too.
While gameplay is different it really does remind me of Skyrim in the sense that you can just lose hours of the day just walking around and exploring just seeing what you can find.
Right now I've done 1 of the 4 dungeons and should hopefully clear the 2nd today and completed I believe 16 of the shrines.
Well I beat the main story, still a ton of side stuff to do though. I've only completed 48 of the 120 shrines.
Think I will try and get the rest of the memories as I've heard you can get an extra scene at the end if you do so. Still a lot of undiscovered things too as even though I've unlocked the full map there are a ton of places I've yet to truly explore.
Not sure where I'm at hour wise but I really took my time at certain points. I probably could have beat the game last weekend but I purposely spent the last several hours just exploring.
