Tonight, WWE Smackdown rolls into the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, FL just one week removed from the big Wild Card Finals episode. Tonight’s episode is a big one as well as John Cena and WWE Champion AJ Styles meet in the center of the ring to sign the contract for their championship showdown just weeks away at Royal Rumble.
What will happen when “the face that runs the place” stands across from his history seeking challenger tonight on Smackdown?
Tonight’s Smackdown will also see a championship match. It’s going to be Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship. The Miz is looking to successfully defend his title, and his wife Maryse will be in his corner. What role will Maryse play in tonight’s title match, or will she be rendered a non-factor by Dean Ambrose’s girlfriend, Renee Young?
Also tonight, Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin.
In addition to the matches and contract signing announced for tonight’s show, here’s what else WWE is asking in their official preview:
Is American Alpha prepared for The Wyatt Family’s wrath?
Tonight, WWE Smackdown comes to the Raising Cane’s River Center in Baton Rouge, LA. Three matches have been announced for tonight’s show, including a championship showdown.
In the main event, it’s John Cena vs. Baron Corbin. Last week, Baron Corbin announced that he’ll be in the Royal Rumble match. John Cena will challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble. Tonight, the old guard in Cena will collide with lone wolf.
Also tonight, American Alpha vs. The Wyatt Family for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship. It was just two weeks ago that Luke Harper and Randy Orton lost the tag team titles to American Alpha following some miscommunication. Can the former champions regain the titles tonight, or will there be further issues between Randy Orton and the rest of the Wyatt Family members?
In women’s action tonight Natalya vs. Nikki Bella. This one has been heating up since Carmella ended her feud with Nikki by informing Nikki that it was Natalya who attacked her at Survivor Series. Last week, the Queen of Harts informed Nikki that her looks would fade and Cena would leave her and that she’d ultimately die alone. Who will prevail when these two hook up tonight?
Here’s some other questions WWE is asking heading into tonight’s show:
- Who is the mysterious La Luchadora? - Beware of an angry Ziggler

Pretty good Smackdown.
Really liking what they're doing with Dolph Ziggler right now. Frankly it's long overdue. Hope it translates into something meaningful for him (doubtful, but it is Smackdown so I suppose there's hope). I think he's a guy that would be better suited in a stable, albeit one done right and just an excuse to have interference in every match. Too bad they didn't let Flair manage him when he wanted too.
Looking forward to the Bliss/Lynch steel cage match next week. La Luchadora will probably get involved and cost Becky the title, but it should still be a good match regardless.
I really like this idea floating around of having his real life brother Bo Dallas, totally lost in the woods, join him.
This was an idea I liked and I've actually done something like this in WWEk2k17:
Both Bray and Bo are cult like leaders but from different angles, Bray preying on fear and Bo on positivity.
Could easily twist it storywise that they both were trying to continue Sister Abigails work but Bo realising his way was failing decided to reunite with Bray.
If they do introduce a sister Abigail character it will be interesting, she would need to be the head of the Wyatts, have they ever done a female wrestler leading a male stable before? Like actually leading it not just manipulating it. 9
