Gazillion has been shut down. Their entire staff was apparently laid off today.
Disney and Marvel announced a week ago that they were ending their relationship with Gazillion and would be shutting down the Marvel Heroes game. With the news today that the studio has been shut down, the death of MHO has been moved up. The game will go offline, and thus be unplayable, on Friday.
Was a really fun game. The folks at Gazillion were also super cool.
Yeah so was I. They made all the heroes, costumes, boosters, loot boxes cost either 1G or 1ES.
I already had just about all of the characters except for the ones added recently. Guess I'll get on tonight and buy a bunch of loot boxes. I still have like 140 ES, and over 9,000G (the real world currency).
I can get over 45,000 loot boxes. Would make a hell of a YouTube video.
Feel really bad for all the folks at Gaz though. Thought they had the rest of the year, instead they're shutdown the day before Thanksgiving and told they're not getting severance, PTO, and there is insurance is over.
EDIT: And I've seen a lot of outrage from gamers who I think need to have a little more perspective. I get that some folks spent money on the game, some a lot, but it's not the developers decided to end it. They aren't deserving of the rage. The folks taking to Twitter and tweeting at different developers how they want a refund just really piss me off. That's a chance you take with a F2P online only game. Don't demand refunds from the people who just suddenly became out of a job when they thought they had a month and a half left (and would severance, etc).
