LOL, yep what are the damn odds. I literally switched this morning. I signed on, saw there weren't any new quests then switched back to Dead Orbit before logging off. Of course if they let you pay to switch as much as you want for a fee or let you make donations to any faction regardless of allegiance it wouldn't matter.
Man, VOG takes 40 minutes. We can try to do it tomorrow. We typically try to start raiding at around 9:00pm CT, but that's for one that's going to take a couple of hours. Let us know a time that works for you, preferably in the evening though, and we'll get you through both Vault and Crota. Those are year one raids, so any loot you get will be garbage, but they're both a lot of fun (especially the vault).
King's Fall tonight really just angered me It's almost like they're actively encouraging you not to even want to bother with it. Moldering shards should not be considered a loot drop. I get those from every chest, hell I can buy one from Eris. If you don't want to give out armor and weapons, eventhough the perks and the light are random, give out legendary marks.
Doing a raid that ends up taking over three hours and not getting anything is frustrating. Here's this crappy item and if you have 20 of them, you'll get an extra drop at Oryx... but the kicker is moldering shards are on the table. He took 20 of mine and gave me 2.
All I got was a 300 chest piece and a 302 machine gun with the exact same perks as my 303 one.
"We fixed the nightfall rewards!" "We're fixing the crucible and Iron Banner rewards." Fantastic, but the raid is your hardest content and the pinnacle of end-game, how about fixing those rewards? 3 hours and 22 minutes for nothing.
And they had the audacity to claim that the "forever 29" meme hurt them and that they weren't going to have it happen again. Bullcrap, it's worse now than it was. At least when you got the VOG boots you knew they would have 30 light. Now they have it where armor drops from one boss (and the helmet from Oryx, plus a small chance at other armor if you have 20 shards on you) and can be anywhere between 300-310.
Smart loot, lmao. "We're going to look at what you have, and what you need, and make it rewarding." My 297 boots say hello.
I'm tired of getting trolled hard by the ghost, I've gotten the ghost four times and three times it's dropped at 300. Did get the helmet and some fusion rifles for infusion fuel so I can't complain too much.
Last night was frustrating at the end though, last run was well done but was starting to get irritating that we weren't doing enough damage and/or kept setting bombs off early. I think we had some lag though, might have needed to go back to orbit. Typically only takes about 4-5 seconds to set off my bomb and last night it was consistently taking about 6-7 and then seemed like I had less time to get back. So I'm wondering if my bomb was actually starting the detonation process at the typical time of 4-5 seconds but because of lag I was getting the message a couple seconds late thus cutting back on my time to run back. I died I'd say a good 5 times trying to run back from my bomb and I've literally never died from that.
I'm starting to think the final three fragments are tied to the bosses of hard mode. Otherwise there would have to be new areas that open up in the raid that weren't available previously and I'm just not sure where areas like that could even be.
I don't know where any other areas would be either. I don't think it'll be anything too crazy.
Something I've noticed, and obviously wouldn't say anything about, is that you and I (or David and I) consistently kill our ogres as soon as they come up. Doesn't matter if they're the first two, the last two, or the second and third... they go down fast. Last night, even when Tom's was the first and Josh's was the last, there were times when I'd see Josh's out past the pillar after David already had the spark. And there's quite a delay on the fourth ogre. Josh's should have never even had a chance to move when his was the fourth.
Because I was thinking "what the hell are they doing on that side?" several times. And sure, the front side has to deal with the ship shooting at them, but that's it. There are no more adds in the front than there are in the back. The ogres are the easier part of it, no reason they should ever get close to escaping their pillar. It's one thing if everyone isn't in position and ready once it starts and ogres start coming out when you're still trying to get up on your platform, but other than that those things should die fast. It's not that hard to snipe the one across from you.
-No checkpoint on the ships, have to do it all in one go -No revives starting at totems -Warpriest gets stronger after each wave, starts to attack you after the first -Golgoroth gives a debuff called "unstable light" looks like it causes you to explode if you remain in the pool. Not 100% sure on this yet -LOTS more cursed thralls at Golgoroth
Oh yeah I had low expectations though I would have liked to get passed at least the Warpriest. Doubt we'll have a chance to attempt it again tonight honestly. I won't be able to raid until late and I have more interest in helping the group with the first timers get their first completion than I am with getting hard mode done just yet.
I was talking about the normal mode group. I'd like to see them complete it too, and I'm down for helping tonight and will stay on again until 3 CT, but I'll be surprised. You've seen how we've struggled even with people who have done it multiple times and are higher light.
I was hoping Kimble could have joined us for hard last night. We would have had it beat the first time Josh came in had he not went in to his menu. And does Glaes seriously not have a better primary than a 300 Last Word? Obviously wasn't going to say anything about it, because I think people can use what they want, but he has to have a better primary to raid hard mode with than that. Tis not crucible.
EDIT: And my not thinking we'll beat Oryx on normal tonight isn't a knock against the people we're playing with. Look how many times we got to Oryx and failed to complete it that week before we finally did it. I just don't think the Ogre's will die fast enough, or enough people will stay alive to detonate all four bombs (or that we'll kill the shade). I'm perfectly fine with trying as much as we can get in, and will of course remain positive and encouraging (I don't get frustrated with new people doing it because I remember how it was the first time we first did it, and still struggle with it depending on the group).
I want to see them beat it; I want to help them beat it.
