The talent combination of Steady Hands (25% recoil reduction for 10 seconds after entering cover) and On The Move (30% damage reduction while moving after a kill) is just too good. Especially since you don't have to stay in cover for the Steady Hands buff to remain active. Pop in cover, get the buff, get a kill, continue moving and shooting.
Well I didn't get quite as far as I had hoped this weekend but I did beat the story and max out my character level wise. I still have a few more side missions/encouters to do in the next to last zone and I haven't touched the last zone at all other than to open the safe house to get the trophy.
Ok, this game needs check points. I mean real check points. Spent close to an hour doing the final mission today, in large part because of ammo issues and they were fairly stingy with the restock box until close to the end. Failed a couple of times at the end boss and said the hell with it. Now I have to do the whole thing over again?
Yeah I almost sent you a heads up, that last mission is harsh. Oddly enough I did decent on the boss but had some issues in the theater and prior. It took me half the boss battle to figure out how to turn the turrets on.
Spent a ton of time on it and ended up stopping to eat dinner right after clearing the theater.
I got it done after I posted though, took about 40 minutes. The boss went by easy this time. Earlier today when I tried it I couldn't find all the turrets, and was getting frustrated they didn't have them marked on the map. Ended up taking the armor down before the bombardment attack and adds even spawned. Pretty easy fight.
I didn't have any issues in the theater this time since I was fully stocked. I have a pretty good sniper rifle that with crits was taking down the elites in three to four shots.
EDIT: At least the purples drop very frequently in this game:

The Daily Missions aren't that bad at all. MUCH easier than I expected it to be, and will be laughably so with even better gear. Of course I guess it'll depend some on what the mission is anyway, since some of the missions were super easy and some pretty rough. Subway Morgue as a Daily was an absolute cake walk with Pulse modded with Tactical Scanner and a decent sniper rifle. I'm rocking a level 28 superior Hunting M44 right now as my primary, and it was making quick work of the enemies. Of course when they got closer, I switched to my secondary which is the Police T821 superior SMG.
My SMG has the talent Sustained, "killing a target increases your health by 4%," and Stable, "Stability is improved by 26%." Unfortunately I don't quite have enough Stamina to use my sniper's second talent which would be really useful (Vicious, "Critical hit chance increased by 9.5% while at full health"). It also has Harmful, "Each hit as a 9.5% chance to apply the bleed status effect to the target."
I like both of my weapons, but I really want to replace them with level 30 versions sometime soon. I did craft the High End sidearm Damascus.
Up to 65 PC, but looking at the prices of some of this stuff the Special Gear Vendor sells, it's going to be quite the grind.
The Daily Challenge is going to be awhile before we can do though. That's pretty much going to require two others to join us, and even then it's going to need a couple of hours devoted to it. We're looking at a situation where it's going to be having to decide between trying to do a Daily Challenge mission or trying to do a King's Fall Challenge raid. There's just not going to be time for both.
I'm holding off on the DZ until I have someone with me. I'm fine going in just you and I, but I'd really prefer a full team. Apparently there isn't a ton of people going rogue, but the likelihood of someone killing you right as the helicopter approaches for extraction is greatly increased if you're standing there solo against a full group.
The endgame looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. Definitely a grind with just as much RNG as Destiny, but I guess that's the appeal. Going to have to consider what type of build I want to do, which is a lot more in-depth here than it is in Destiny.
I like that there are two Daily Hard Missions since they're easy to solo. That's an easy 30+ Phoenix Credits a day. I'm up to 83. I'm going to buy the marksman rifle, and that cost 168. So still got a ways to go for that.
So the Special Gear Vendor in the Base of Operations is going to be the best sure bet to get high quality High End items (let's just call them Exotics, High End sounds stupid... when we play together and they drop, I'll be sticking with the Destiny color names).
It's on a weekly reset. He sells an exotic LMG and two pair of exotic kneepads. Unlike the Advanced Gear Vendor, all of the SGV's exotics are item level 31.
I don't think spending the Phoenix Credits on the actual items is going to be worth it though. Best bet looks like buying the Blueprints. At least that way you'll always have the blueprint available, so if you get a crappy roll you can just get the materials to craft another one.
I changed my mind on buying the sniper blueprint this week, mainly because I'd prefer a M44 over the Mk17. M44 is going to have a mag size of 5 vs the 20 of the Mk17, but it does far more damage. Even right now with a 28 Hunting M44, I've three shot a level 30 boss (two shots to get his armor down, one shot to kill him from full health but no armor).
I'm getting 30+ PC a day right now just from doing the two Hard dailies. Once we start doing the Challenging and farming in the DZ, PC shouldn't be much of a problem. So this week I think I'm going to buy the Vector 45 ACP blueprint. It costs 154 credits, and I'm at 101 right now. He's got 54 hours before he restocks, so I should easily be able to get the 53 credits I need by the end of tomorrow.
I already have the 5 HE weapon parts and the 3 HE tools I need, so by Friday I should have my first level 31 item.
I want to be pretty closed to fully decked out in level 31 exotics come time for the first raid (or Incursion) to drop in April.
I finally ventured into the Dark Zone and I was doing fairly well. The only way to take out items you earn in there is to have them extracted. So I'm all set doing that and a couple of guys and I had cleared the area out. Well, the one guy waited until I was beginning to extract and of course killed me, stole my crap, and he took it.
That's the kind of thing that's going to discourage me spending a lot of time in there. That's kind of lame.
I like the game a lot, but man once you've completed all of the missions and the side missions, there's just nothing to do. It's no longer fun to play solo, in large part because the world so barren (can run long distances and only see a handful of enemies that are zero challenge). It's just do the two daily hard missions and log off.
A lot of folks have given Destiny a hard time, mostly those of us who have well over a thousand hours in it and have completely devoured it, for a lack of content. But at the end of the day, I can log on to Destiny and have fun playing solo. There are things to do, every day. It too is much better when playing with even just one other, but it's still a ton of fun solo as well.
And granted I haven't done the Dark Zone yet, but that's purely because I don't want to go in it solo.
This game needs more to do. A bounty type system would be nice. Encounters should be random events that spawn after you've done all of them, and award something useful like phoenix credits in place of supplies. And when I say bounties, I mean more in the Diablo III style and not like Destiny.
I agree. As much as I like this for what it is and as much as I'll never come within 20 light years of over 1000 hours into Destiny (?!)... yes, Destiny has more going for it and is a bit more well rounded if someone wants to play solo.
This says I have to be a level 30 character to even do it or no Phoenix Credits. Bullet King scales with the player. I'm a 21 and so is he. The guy in the youtube video waxed him in a heartbeat. I am going to see if I can imitate that. (I doubt I get away with it)
EDIT: Hopeless, as expected. I like how I can be killed at the drop of a hat vs these bullet sponge enemies. Not.
EDIT: Just got lucky. Used an LMG. There's a garbage truck right outside that base. I took covered and got lucky. I died within seconds after killing him.
EDIT: Damn it... I accidentally killed them all. So I got about 6-7 runs out of that and it definitely was opening up some worlds for me. Now it's ruined. If you find out about anything else like that in the game let me know.
