Completing a submission is hard for sure. Honestly just takes practice, I went through the same thing when his was on the UFC game but then suddenly it clicked and I was good. I do think the cpu's reaction time should get worse the more they are damaged. Maybe make your bar significantly larger when applying submission finishers versus normal submissions and likewise when your opponent's limb is in the red.
Also haven't tried it myself but supposedly their is a submission tutorial within MyCareer mode.
Yeah pressing up pulls your opponent all the way up and facing you, using down pulls them up partially. Not sure if you can lift your opponent up while having their back facing you yet.
Had a classic match earlier, I was controlling Cesaro/Kidd and facing the Usos. Near 30 minutes of back and forth action and saves at the last second.
Same, haven't bumped it up yet. I only had one true squash match so far, every other match even if I dominate to start they end up coming back and making it competitive. Think I'm going to bump up the difficulty once I finish my first PPV in Universe.
I'm with you guys on the submissions. For sure takes some getting used to. I have yet to make someone tap haha. Great game though! I've been playing a lot of online, and it seems to actually work this year. Universe is really good even though I'm still getting used to all the changes in it. Just started MyCareer last night and loving it so far. Probably my favorite mode as of right now. If you guys wanna play sometime feel free to add me on PS4 my name is moviebuff1084
Good news if your're like me and was mad about Universe not having custom title matches. Apparently that is a bug and 2K said they would fix it in the first update coming later this month. I read this a couple different places so I'm assuming its true, at least I hope so. Now if they can just fix the annoying submission mini game I will be okay.

Very impressive and glad they made it so you can make any match a title match now in Universe Mode.
I wish they'd give another studio the opportunity to make a WWE game too, but different from this series. THQ did two WWE games in a year multiple times, and it works when the two games are quite different.
The realistic simulation aspect of the main 2K series is great and all, but sometimes you just want to have fun with the game. An original story mode with multiple branching paths and some absurd moments would be great. Arcade like fast paced action with no stamina nonsense and a easy to use pin/submission system.
You're not going to sabotage your own sales by offering your own alternative. It doesn't even necessarily have to be a retail game; a $20 or $30 digital title would suffice.
Take the WCW/NWO World Tour/Rampage/WrestleMania 2000/No Mercy style and pretty it up with todays roster and legends... with everything animated instead of scanned and mo-capped. It'd sell like crazy.
Make it truly arcade with a new version of WrestleFest.
Hell, go over the top with it and make Allstars 2.
There's a ton of options to counter the ultra realism that they want to take the main series in.
I went ahead and reunited The Shield as faces and put them against the Wyatts in an Elimination Tag. Here I'm still playing on normal and this was 20 minute crazy match. I really can't say enough about how much better the AI is this year.
I just now had to up the AI to legend status. My matches were always very one sided haha. Loving the new patch! Universe is better and online works way better now! Just got to rank 20. Just won the championship in My Career mode. Haven't played it much after that. I guess I was going hard to try to get the belt and now that I have it I'm like what now?
Moves pack released yesterday for those who have the season pass.
Loving the game, just been a little hard trying to fit this in with everything else. About to run my first NXT PPV though that should turn out pretty good. Also debating whether or not to create a legends show next or a mixture of Indy and NJPW talent. Might hold off on the legends show though until the DLC starts dropping.
I've also noticed some amazing arenas built for ROH, Lucha Underground, PWG, NJPW, and all the NXT Takeover events.
The user created downloads is a treasure trove this year. The online is working better for the most part.
I have turned my difficulty up to hard but I have to say the countering and my lack thereof is frustrating at this difficulty.
I can't stress this enough: Even on Normal I have been seeing a lot of fun and exciting situations. The AI is a lot better this year.
I have looked over Universe and I'm again discouraged when I see this disconnect: I've done a lot of things in "my WWE" to make teams and other things like that and it just confounds me how that never ports over or can be ported into Universe. I'm not going to do all of that again.
Yeah I hate the lack of an "import teams" function for Universe. Completely stupid that you have to make teams twice if you want them set up in Exhibition and Universe. I feel like cpu booking in Universe is better this year but still not sure that I'm going to leave the cpu booking rivalries. Seems like less is better with rivalries because I hate when you have two singles rivalries playing out and they both have the same story/cutscenes, it hurts the immersion a bit.
I do like injuries returning a lot though. I know they were in last year but damn if I ever saw one and this year I've already had 3-4 minor injuries. I put a pretty savage beating on Seth Rollins with Brock Lesnar at my Extreme Rules PPV and it was a cool touch to see him showing the signs of it. Also had a pretty good back and forth series between Taker and Cena leading to a blowoff at the same PPV. Taker won the match on Raw prior to the PPV but was hurt in the process and went into the PPV less than 100% which allowed Cena to get the win.
While it may be different than the way WWE conditions us to think, I absolutely love that everybody can be competitive. Sure you'll have the squash here and there but for the most part even if you get in there with a guy like Heath Slater then you better be ready. Case in point I had a US Title Open Challenge on Raw with Cena since Fandango was already booked against him and there were multiple times where I felt Fandango was going to walk out with the belt.
