I've pretty much decided that I'm not going to be doing much on this for a while. Still haven't done nearly enough on 2K16 and I want to wait for patches, DLC and creations to drop before I get into it full throttle.
Edit: If anyone finds a good CAW for 'The Drifter' Elias Sampson, let me know
A lot of nice refinements in this over 16. I'm just starting to get into it. Massively improved load times... good looking... plays well... more depth.
I've noticed the AI is better. I've been playing on normal and racking up compelling 4-5 star matches all over the places. If you go into the gameplay menus they even give you a slider to control how long the ref stays knocked out after a bump. This was a complaint from 16: You had no time at all to do anything. The ref would take a bump and be up and running inside of 10 seconds easy.
I haven't tried to purposely do it but I've already had the AI take the ref out. So far I'll echo Q's thoughts, they refined a lot of things that make the overall experience better and the AI continues to improve. I had a hell of a match using Nakamura against Bray Wyatt this morning before I went to work. Honestly thought I was going to have to turn the game off before there was a winner. I do think I'm going back to the old submission system though, I didn't mind it but I still prefer the old.
I like the little touches of having personalized OMG moments too. For instance I was Sasha Banks and I saw an OMG icon pop up in the corner so I hit the prompt. She then put Bayley on the top rope and did her double knee drop. I also know KO does the powerbomb to the apron as a new OMG moment.
Another thing I'm liking is the new double team moves. I played a match with the Revival and was loving their double team moves.
Ladder match, I love the new bump with the ladder wedged from the ring to the barricade but I'm not a big fan of the new mechanic you use to pull the belt/briefcase down. Hopefully I'll get used to it as time goes on.
Some entrances are a little screwy with the timing of the animations and the music. Nakamura as well as Enzo and Cass I noticed right away.
Love the new Universe presentation with the way the music, pyro, and intro plays. Very nice little touch. I also like the new promo stuff though I could see people who aren't a big fan of text only speech just skipping it.
Lastly I'm really glad they brought back crowd fighting and backstage fighting. A lot of fun to have an extreme rules match or a falls count anywhere match actually go all over the arena.
EDIT: Also if you want to control both tag partners in a match you need to create the match in terms of Universe mode. Picking an existing match and you'll only be able to control one superstar.
I'm wondering if it's me or something else: L1 on PS4 still picks up or drops objects but when I'm matches I can hit L1 and I can't drop an item. I hope it's not my controller.
There was a lot more attention to detail in this game and I feel like some of the annoying rails we all have talked about have been widened. I haven't seen everything yet but so far I'd largely co-sign Monk's post.
I've had a lot of really good matches just on Normal difficulty booking in Exhibition mode. Crazy stuff. The AI is showing some more sophistication and aggression at times that makes sense.
There are some annoying glitches and I've even had a few outright game crashes where I send in error reports.
I'm still getting into all the nooks and crannies of this game which should say something. I haven't even bothered yet to leave normal difficulty or default sliders because I've had nothing but nonstop awesome matches.
I have some plans for Universe that I'm going to try and do before long. I still wish they would have a convenient "port your settings from exhibtion mode into Universe" setting because I've made some changes, new entrances, and some teams and damn it I don't feel like doing all that a second time.
The Shield vs the full Bullet Club is going to happen.
Speaking of the Shield, they triple power bombed Lesnar yesterday but it took two of those to finally put him down. The AI is a bit tougher and more durable in this one, which I like.
Starting to get to know some of the other nooks and crannies.
Create a video/cutscene is a great idea but these consoles can't handle it. The load times are atrocious in this part of the game and make it, for me, unusable.
The load times, in general, have been a lot better on this game vs the last two years on the PS4 except that section.
Had another game crashing event happens last afternoon when I was doing an alternate outfit for HBK so there are some niggling issues. That's the second or third time this game has crashed on me and I've sent the error report since the game came out.
EDIt: I suspect this patch may have fixed some things and unbalanced some others. Seeing some wonky minor glitches with entrances that I wasn't seeing before.
I'm about to throw in the towel on career mode. I don't get it. I whoop ass, win every match, 4-5 stars and somehow I never get title shots and even with all that if I get into a feud somehow I lose it even if I destroy that person.
I've honestly yet to touch career but have been having a blast in Universe. My initial Universe is pretty realistic in terms of roster with only some minor changes. I sent Sin Cara to Smackdown to reform The Lucha Dragons, Darren Young and Titus O'Neil reformed the Prime Time Players, I sent the cruiserweights to NXT to help fill out the roster, and Daniel Bryan is still an active roster member.
I still haven't run into any game crashes but I've run into a handful of clipping glitches.
