Man this game has just completely taken over my gaming. I'm still working in ARK, Yakuza 0 (have to review it), and Watch Dogs 2, and want to get back into both Destiny and The Division at least a little bit each day. But it's proving difficult to do because Stardew Valley is amazing.
I knew it would be when I first saw the videos when it came out on PC. Didn't want to play it on PC though, and so avoided anything about it. Jumped on it when it came to PS4, played one week of game time, and set it aside because I didn't want to get sucked into while still having a big backlog (still need to finish Mafia III, was working some Skyrim in, and haven't even touched Just Cause 2 yet).
Then last week I booted it up again, and well it's dominated probably 90% of my gaming over the past week (with ARK getting 9%, and I solo'd the NF on one character on Destiny).
I'm in the Fall of Year 1. House now has a kitchen, I've upgraded my axe, and I'm able to start making some decent gold. Character got married earlier today to Penny, the librarian/teacher.
It really is Harvest Moon on steroids. Everything great about Harvest Moon 64 is here and expanded upon and so much more on top of it. In fact, there's so much to do right now that it's a challenge to even fit in doing the things you want to do in a day. And I'm still in the first year, so I don't even have access to a majority of the stuff and I'm certainly super far out from "end game" stuff.
That this game was made by just one guy is astounding. It's really quite impressive. And not only that, but it's also the guy's first time developing a game.
I loved Harvest Moon, Harvest Moon 64 (for a long time, my favorite game), and thought Back to Nature was ok (confusing as all hell though because I played it on PS3 as a PS1 Classic and it's all the characters of Harvest Moon 64 but with names and roles changed and a much worse map). I'd say right now, this blows them all out of the water.
For $15, I'd say this is an absolute steal. Gotta be up there with the best games of 2016.
