Shadowkeep and the introduction of the current seasonal model that came with it was, IMO, the beginning of the downfall of Destiny 2.
I'd rather have Curse of Osiris over any of the D2 seasons that have came since Shadowkeep.
Drip fed content mixed with the same seasonal loop isn't fun. The game became a chore. Keep the hamster on the wheel, and even the ones who play it as a job can't remain interested.
Thousands of hours and hundreds of dollars invested in this stupid franchise, I want to like it and play it some. But they killed my desire to even boot it up occasionally. Killed it so much that if I even wanted to, I'd have to download the whole game again because I installed it.
A shame because the core gameplay is fantastic. There is no better shooter, gameplay wise, on the market. Just everything else around it is absolute crap.
It's sad that so many people jumped on the battle royale train, or now Souls-like games, and no-one tried to do what Destiny did. All the so-called Destiny killers (Anthem, Division, Outriders, etc) are third person games with bullet sponges. And in the case of Division, cover-based. Third person isn't the problem (I prefer third over first), but just make a game like Destiny that plays about on par and doesn't have all the BS that Destiny players have grown tired of. But no one even wants to try to do it.
EDIT: And here's the thing about Diablo. I can see my character getting stronger. I'm currently level 85 (100 is the cap). I had a few great drops Friday that substantially boosted my character's damage and survivability. I can now go into a T44 NM dungeon and have no problems slaying enemies 12 levels higher than me.
The loot is great. The core gameplay is great. The progression is great. It's also something you can mindlessly do when no super outleveled. I often hope into a NM dungeon 3 levels higher than me to farm XP, with the game muted while I listen/watch a YouTube video.

Microtransactions in paid-for games with paid-for expansions and seasons is, and always will be, garbage. It makes sense in free-to-play games.
Meanwhile, there's Hello Games with 30-something employees pumping out free updates on the regular for No Man's Sky for free and with no mtx.

Folks need to cut Bungie some slack. It's "pride" month, and as they've told us, this year they are louder and prouder than ever.

Working on a review of it that should have out this week.
I think it's great. I loved 3, didn't care for D2 Resurrected. So I'd say it's the best Diablo game to date. We'll see what happens with the seasons. But I've already got a ton of time in it and have enjoyed every second of it.

The fact that Fable has been in development for years and still can't show any gameplay or even a hint at a release window is absurd. Factor in the ugly protagonist, and I just don't have any hopes for it.
Avowed looks great.
Clockwork Revolution is promising.
Starfield looks absolutely amazing. I will resubscribe to GPU just to play it. I wasn't that impressed with it last year when they showed it, as it just seemed like a No Man's Sky ripoff, but I was very pleased with what all they showed of it today. Obviously, the No Man's Sky inspiration is there, but it's so much more than that. Went from "midly interested" to "we'll see," to now "can't wait."
Could see playing almost nothing but Starfield from release until Mirage releases in late October. Assuming of course the game is as good as it seems like it could be.
EDIT: And I bought the 8bitdo Pro 2 Xbox controller to play Starfield with. It's basically a PS4 controller for Xbox with back buttons. I don't like the Xbox controller style with offset joysticks. Plus it's noisy as all hell too.

I'd like to see a Civil War era Red Dead, but I couldn't stomach the propaganda of a Ubisoft Civil War Assassin's Creed game. The idea of working with Assassin aligned Lincoln to take down a Templar backed CSA just wouldn't set right with me.

Diablo 4 is awesome. Even if I had been interested during the first two weeks, D4 would've definitely pulled me away.

Lol, I like fishing in games like Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley or whatever.
Pressing square then square again isn't fun to me. Could've at least made a mini-game out of it.

Week 2 of a new Season... and for the first time since September 9, 2014, I do not have a Destiny game installed on my PlayStation.
Deleted to make room for Diablo.

Who wants all these PvP only GAAS games anyway?
Sony revealed three first party PvP only GAAS yesterday. All of them with CGI. Bland and generic. "Every game is a new story." No it's not.
I'm so tired of every game, at least Western made, thinking it needs to be PvP or Co-op, always updated with new "content" and seasons.
One of the most appealing aspects of Final Fantasy XVI is that, besides being a single player game, it's a polished finished product. No day one patch. No planned DLC. No microtransactions.
Seasons are killing gaming, for me. When I hear "seasons," I immediately lose interest (with the exception of Diablo IV, of course).

Yeah Matter is definitely Marathon, and I have no interest in it.
Who keeps asking for all these PvP games?
And for God's sake, stop putting pronouns under the names of all your employees in your videos. I hate what Bungie has become.

Early impressions... I'll take a look at the new dungeon when it launches but basically I'm done.
I appreciate that there is no seasonal vendor thing to upgrade, but I'm just tired of the seasonal approach.
Salvage is just another 6 man matchmade activity. The formula is stale. The loot is meh. A few Taken themed weapons and some Reckoning reprisals.
Lots of stuff for Silver though.
Oh well.
Right now there is a 95% chance that I don't buy Final Shape and a 100% chance if I do buy it that it won't be the version that includes the season passes.

Destiny 2 definitely has too many issues to keep going.
I favor a hard reset, and 2025 release of it would probably keep me away from The Final Shape.
That said, I wouldn't have high hopes. The Bungie team has gotten steadily worse since Destiny first released back in 2014.
For it to work, right, and not have people complain about their D2 gear and cosmetics, take it somewhere outside of our solar system. A new Guardian in new locations with all new gear.
Unfortunately, as fun as the actual gameplay is, I just don't see it ever going back to what I preferred. For me, the best Destiny ever was was the few short months of House of Wolves. It's been a mostly slow roll down hill ever since Taken King.
It's just moved with the trend of other games and unfortunately that's the whole seasonal BS with "battle passes." I hate it.
I want to hop on, doing a Nightfall and a Heroic Strike, get my weekly reward, and then do other stuff. Now it's grind the same NF on high difficulties that aren't even matchmade to "farm" materials and drops.
Back in D1, exotics were actually rare to get for the entirety of year one (i.e. the best year). Do the NF on each character, and hope to get a Gjallarhorn or a Hawkmoon or whatever. I miss that.
Basically, I want activities with a weekly lockout (NF, Heroic strike, Raid, Dungeon, etc.) and also daily stuff (Heroic story, bounties, lost sectors, etc.) I want exotics to be rare; gotten as rare drops but also some that come from quests given as random bounty completions.
I want legendary weapons with random rolls, upgradeable by actually using the weapon, and the ability to reroll a perk once fully upgraded at a material cost.
I want raid and dungeon weapons to be unique with a static roll. I enjoyed doing VoG and Crota every week in D1 trying to get great weapons (Fatebringer, Blackhammer, etc). Because I knew at most I only had three shots a week, but once I got it that was it. Now the weapon you want can drop with any garbage roll, and that kills any desire for me. I don't care about crafting because that system also sucks.
What I'm saying is, I just want a more refined version of Destiny 1. Mainly Year 1, but the entirety of that game really.
When a new expansion comes out, I want to be able to devour that content, see and do everything with no timegating, and then a month or so later move on to something else. A fun game that you can keep coming back to it as new content releases, not a chore or a game that feels like its a job. Seasons need to die.
I'd rather pay $20 every three or four months for a Dark Below/Curse of Osiris style DLC than $12 for the garbage seasonal stuff we've been getting since 2019

Remember when Tony Khan used to boast on Twitter about the viewers Dynamite got, or when NXT would beat them in viewership, the almighty demo?
LMAO, what a clown.
Meanwhile, viewership down from last week again, 814,000 viewers. Demo down as well, 0.28.
But the guy who booked it thought it was great, and so did Cagematch voters.
