So according to a site called Pro Wrestling Sheet (not familiar with its credibility level or lack thereof) WWE has been in negotiations to buy ROH since last August.
While I'd be in favor of WWE working with indy feds and selling timeslots on the network, this would be awful IMO.... They have seriously learned nothing from the death of WCW. Being a monopoly makes things tougher than having stable competition, not that ROH is anywhere near WCW levels of competing, but this urge to be the only game in town is self-destructive, if true.
Twister is one of my wife's all time favorites, Tombstone is one of mine, and that doesn't even scratch the surface.
He was great in so many different roles.
Became one of the most likable "everyman" type actors at the height of his career, yet could still play a good villain--will always remember as a kid seeing him as the butthead older brother 'Chet' in Weird Science.
Joe has done everything right so far. He just walked out on week one and came off like a star and a killer. His promos have been on point. Not sure who's fell asleep at the wheel to allow such natural solid booking to occur, but let's hope they don't wake up anytime soon.
Also on the subject of more serious heels, Neville has turned from someone who looked uncomfortable in his own skin--generic flippy guy 6.0 to an awesome badass heel overnight, and this Ghallager chap has impressed me as well. His character is unlike anything I've seen in wrestling for a while.
In a way it's worse than "Not running with Lynch" a few years back. This wasn't just one epic mistake, but play after play of letting things slowly slip out of your hand. Just a few run plays and a damn kick and the deal is sealed.
As much as any good American hates the Patriots, I hate Goodell far worse and you couldn't have scripted a better f-you to that turd stick. Only thing missing was a double bird a stone cold stunner and beer bash with Kraft, Brady, and Belichick.
Last year's worth of sports championships in the NBA, MLB and NFL have broken the space time continuum for all time level insanity.
Joe vs Trips has my vote. Establish him as a killer right of the gate and have him end HHH's in ring career at Mania then you have great matches waiting with ready made angles with Cena, Roman, Lesnar, AJ etc...
However, I think Dave Meltzer might have been on a sugar rush when he proclaimed it to be Six Stars. Hate that he did that honestly. Takes an honestly great match and gives it unneeded heat with people who will now unfairly compare it to other eras and whathaveyou.
I'd easily go five stars though and leave it at that.
